Cleaning Produce is Easy and Cheap.
Fresh produce is one of the tastiest parts of our diet. When you get home from the supermarket or grocers it is best to clean your produce. In some cases cleaning extends the life of the produce, such as berries.
To clean the produce quickly and easily you need on a few basic ingredients. Water, Bi-Carb and vinegar.
I like to plug my sink and fill with some cold water and a few heaped spoons of Bi-carb. I place the vegetables into the water and swish it all around a bit. I let them soak while I do other things for probably 10-20 minutes. After the soak, I pop everything onto clean tea towels to dry. for berries I also tip a little veg onto them and rinse. If you prefer you can put the vinegar into the soaking water after its soaked, swish and then move to the towels.
If you don’t want to use your sink you can use a bucket, tub or go the extra mile and use a Strucket! A Strucket will also make the drying phase way easier for you. You can purchase a Strucket from www.strucket.com use the code MUMSWHO for free shipping.
Once your produce is dry you can then prep it how you normally do and it will likely last longer than usual. You can be comforted knowing your produce is clean and safe for your family.
